Blewbury life class this Friday, first time I've been asked to model at this location so looking forward to it.

I'm off to Blewbury in South Oxfordshire on Friday 5th April modelling for Charlotte and her group of willing and keen art students getting to grips with the complexities of life drawing. Not modelled for this group before so it will be interesting to see how they get on with my assortment of.... well not always the easiest of poses to draw but then, who doesn't like to be challenged. I'll try to photo some of the work produced and post it into this blog after Friday. Friday Afternoon and class finished and a very pleasant class it was too. Numbers down slightly to eight from the normal twelve, however some interesting work produced which include these two examples here in this blog update. These are two were done from a 60 minute pose.

New Client - Fusion Arts

Fusion Arts new booking. March 23rd 12.00-16.00

Another new client to add to my ever growing list of art groups who are pleased to use me as their life drawing model. I've recently been in contact with Fusion Arts based in Cowley, Oxford and received a four hour booking for Saturday 23rd March 12.00 - 16.00 hrs. Hope it's the first of many. In the depths of my memory I have a feeling I've been there before a few years back. Unfortunately it's often the case that when the staff have change at a venue numbers and contact details get lost so it's always worth while re-contacting old life drawing groups to make sure your still on the "available life models list" This new booking makes it my second venue in Cowley.

23rd March was a single 'long pose' day.at the start there was a vote by the assembled artists as to whether they wanted the seated pose to be a nude or clothed the vote was split 50/50 so Jane the organiser on the day decided she would rather a clothed pose. This is the result by one of the artists, must say, nice to see a blaze of colour for a change as I usually see myself depicted in mono tones of charcoal, pencil etc.

Life Class, Cowley 12th March

What a great art group, a pleasure to model for.

Pleased say the Tuesday Life Class in Cowley was as good as always with a nice bunch of 12 life drawing lovers frantically drawing away trying to catch the exaggerated and sometimes difficult poses I threw at them down on paper.
Looking forward to next session there on 30th April. Should have warmed up a bit by then. Note to self... take a fan heater just in case English spring has not fully sprung by late April. Drawings here (head) by Ann H from 20 minute pose. and the standing pair are two 1 minute poses from a selection of 20 x 1 minute poses.

One pose evening unclothed & clothed

Always and interesting life session in the Art Room at Christ Church College in Oxford. This evening the tutor, Peter, suggested that the two hour session be split into two but with the same pose in both. The first half a sort of chair recline nude pose and the second half the same pose but now fully clothed. I chose to have a hat on in the second pose and with one shoe on and one shoe hanging off a finger (from the nude pose) that I had purposely placed loosely draped over my thigh from the start of the first half of the session for the very purpose of dangling my unworn shoe in the second half to add interest to the final drawing. It seemed to work out well with one of the class (John) pointing out after the session finished that a good life model does more that just turn up and assume a pose it's actually carefully planned from beginning to end. The loose relaxed hanging hand at the beginning proved to have a use in the end pose. I explained to John that from my experience gained over a good number of years life modelling is best viewed as a 'Performance Art' How true - How true!

My next class 12 March 2019

My next booking on Tuesday morning 12th March is at Asian Centre in Cowley run by Anne H (above one of her drawings of me from last month) the session is attended by a lovely group of life drawing artists who are really friendly and welcoming. From models point of view a great and fun booking and joy of joys parking on site too. Really looking forward to it.
